Denise C Dickens has been a studio designer of women’s outerwear since 2002, and men’s outerwear since 2017, as Outside Designworks™.
The Outside Designworks™ all-weather, outerwear is designed in hi-performance fabrics to be lightweight, waterproof, windproof, breathable and washable.
Fabrics like Taslan and Dintex are examples of waterproof textiles that we use to create weatherproof and versatile garments.
Taslan originated in the 1940’s and has a more utilitarian aesthetic and feel. It was created by special weaving processes to its nylon and polyester fiber content.
Dintex is a much newer, technical textile that is breathable, with a special internal film layer that provides water protection, while the other layers come together to create a breathable and aesthetically pleasing fabric that doesn’t feel or look like your average raincoat.
Additionally, because these fabrics are exceptionally durable, a well-made garment like ones from Outside Designworks™, can last longer, decreasing clothing consumption and avoiding the landfill.
Beyond these attributes from garments made with appropriate, high-quality fabrics, our goal is to provide a comfortable fit and a hood with good visibility, in every style.
